With less than a week to secure one of the last JMC 2018 entries, things are hotting up. News of Bernard Rukadza’s return to trail, and in particular this year’s Jonkerkshoek Mountain Challenge, has certainly taken things up a notch.
Bernie has had a predominantly road-running focus over the past while, and we have missed him in the trail arena. With marathon times in the 2h20min region, and a win at this year’s 30km Bay to Bay, it was understandable that he took some time to give road running his focussed energy. But this Zimbabwean-born racing snake’s impressive leg speed, coupled with climbing power positions him as a formidable force on the trails, and he will spice up this year’s Bos Sport Mountain Challenge Series after recent victory at the 2018 AfricanX.
Bernie joins a few well-known speedsters and mountain gurus who are also lining up for the 2018 Bos Sport Mountain Challenge Series. Rachel Manyathi, Pieter Calitz, Katya Soggot, Andrew Hagen, Lucas Adams, Robert Rorich, Jonathan Marc Black, Annamart Laubscher, Hayley Preen, Alexandra Quenet and Kristen Heath.
For those still wanting to rub shoulders with this impressive crew, the last of the entries for the JMC 38km or 11km are still available.
Don’t forget to join Wildrunner and Raidlight South Africa for a pre-race registration on 16 May from 12 to 5pm at the Trail Station. Saggy Stone Breweries will host a beer tasting, and Bos Sport will be handed to every participant who registers. There will also be a special offer of 10% off all Raidlight gear.
